We went to the 6pm vigil mass last night, so I was able to get to the beach a little earlier today.
After my camera and phone sat in rice, the camera seems to be fine. Phone is a little ‘iffy.’
Here are the pictures from Friday, when my camera was out of commission, and today’s pictures, too.
SO happy to see Charlie and Roxanne, their siblings and friends today!
Just one new castle today – no kids, just me.
Even though I don’t have a photo of Nathan’s castle today,
Even though I couldn’t post a picture of Nathan, Kylie and Bryce’s castle, I could tell you about the kids.
I taught Nathan last summer; he’s 12 now, and he an awesome job of teaching his sister Kylie 11, and brother Bryce 8 years old. They are great kids, and are from Delmar, Delaware – and built a wonderful castle together.
If the rice does its magic, and my camera does the Phoenix thing, I will post that picture.
great day on the beach, but
It was a great day on the beach today – built a bigger castle; and new kids came and built, but –
my phone AND my camera got wet somehow, in the bottom of my bag. I have both the camera and the cell phone in a big bowl of rice. Hopefully, the rice will do its magic.
Some new castles on the beach today
Ava 6 1/2 and brother Konnor 3 3/4, from Harrington and Azina 11 and brother Tavo 7 3/4, from West Chester worked together on a group castle. Then Azina did one by herself, and the third new castle was a big one that Jamie Lombardo, 16, from Media, PA organized with Azina and Tavo. I managed to carve and finish my castle before it was time for supper.
First sandcastles on the beach today
Adam 10 years old, from Shorewood, Wisconsin and his cousin, Alex 6 years old, from Baltimore, Maryland worked together well as a team, building a great castle today.
The first picture shows their castle in the foreground, with mine behind it. The next shows mine, with the Kalmar Nyckel out in the bay.
Hopefully this will be the start of many castles on the Market Street Beach!
I will be building sandcastles August 6 – September 17
I’ve been dreaming of sandcastles – and will be there soon! Hope to see you!
Last castle of 2013
When I got to the beach, I found that my yesterday’s castle start had become a community Art project! Sometime after I left, and before I got there, someone had placed horseshoe crabs going up the mountain and into the castle; and had reeds and feathers inside the castle! It made me laugh outloud! I took a photo of the community project, and then one of my finished castle, and then took a photo looking back.
It was a great summer; so many families and kids and lots of memories. I’ll look forward to building in 2014.
Saturday, and a new 7 year old castle builder!
It was great to see Greg, a 7 year old, from Baltimore, here in Lewes, visiting his Poppop. Greg built a wonderful castle, with lots of stairs. (I wish I had gotten his picture, but he was flying a kite with his Dad, and then went home.)
My castle was only a starter, again. But maybe tomorrow I can finish…
Only a start of a castle today
We had very strong wind from the North East today, and I didn’t get up to the beach until 2:30 (had started packing up at the beach house.)
But a start is better than not building! I will be going home on Monday, September 30th, and don’t know if I will be back to build on Saturday or Sunday. Hope so, though!
