The beach wasn’t as crowded, for a holiday weekend, as it has in years past. (thank heavens.)

Friday, Sept 2 – cloudy and breezy, but a good day on the beach
thursday, Sept 1, on the beach – beautiful day!
Tara (16), Kellie (15), from Media, PA, staying in Wildwood, NJ, came over on the Cape-May Lewes ferry to learn and build!
Maddy (9) and Avery (8), from New York State, and Chadham, NJ, build a great sandcastle today.
Mom Robin, Porter (10), Olive (12), and friend Ellen (12), of Philadelphia, came to learn and build sandcastles.
Wednesday, August 31, 2011 – goodbye to Niamh, Caelan, & Hannah Hello to James (7) and Mina (5) from Chadham, NJ
Monday, August 29 – Maddy (9), Kyle (7) and their castle – (the ‘old’ kids from last year!)
Tuesday, Aug 30, great girls building, and my first castle since Irene
Back to the beach! First kids’ castles since Irene
Although I didn’t get down to our beach till 4pm, kids were ready to build castles! Some of them remembered me from last year.
Lewes (and all coastal areas in De) evacuated; but I’ll be back Monday
Delaware’s Governor Markham issued a mandatory evacuation last night, and I packed all the buckets, molds, shovels and paraphenalia up from the dunes on the beach – I’ll be back building on Monday, August 29th (God willing, and the bay and canal don’t rise again.) Hoping we don’t lose power, and Hurricane Irene doesn’t damage our beach or cottage!
Sydney and Quin, from Media, PA had a ‘refresher lesson’ and built, but thunder chased us.
Thunder on the beach Thursday (Aug 25) put a stop to my plans to build ( I did have time to teach 2 great kids from Media, PA – Sydney and her brother, Quin, but the thunder chased us before I could get the picture of their castle with them.)
