I teach other people’s kids all the time, so I am very happy when I have one of my grandchildren here! This is Riley, 6 1/2, with his castle <3
Anesia 8, built a castle next to her sister Allanah 5. The girls are from Lewisburg, PA, and came with their two brothers Kai 9, and Jayden 11 (who dug holes all day.) Their mom (Tia,) dad (Gus,) and Nanny (Denise) brought them to Lewes.
Somehow, I managed to finish a castle of my own. Here’s mine, with the sandcastle village behind!
Wonderful kids on a wonderful day
Here is Molly, 7, youngest of 3 siblings from Toughkennamon, PA, with her castle Colin, 10, sitting behind his castle.
Jamison is 13, and the oldest brother, to Colin and Molly, all 3 great kids, from Toughkennamon, PA
Keegan is 5 1/2, and this is his first castle (he’s holding the lollipop that Molly was so gracious to offer to all who were making sandcastles! I had a banana tootsie pop – first one in years and years!) Here’s my castle finished (even after teaching 4 kids!)
Tues Aug 3, First day of castles!
I got to the beach late, but was very happy to meet two 9 year old girls from Columbia, Maryland, who were there with their Grammy (Candy,) who retired in Lewes. Since it was so late, I decided to have Jakayla and her friend Madison (just like a sister) do one side of the castle, and I did the other side.
Here’s Jakayla and Maddy, with their side of the castle.
And here is my side. It’s a little misty (but then again, so am I.)
I did paint an addition on the sides of my ‘fish tank’ (oil tank)
I left the sides of my tank blank since repainting the front of the tank, because there were big (ugly) labels on there that had to stay. I decided to incorporate the labels into octopuses (that a visitor from Colorado requested!) The label is there, but the big picture is an octopus (if you squint!)
Almost time for me to build sandcastles!
I plan to be on the Market Street Beach August 2, and as many nice days as I can, until September 22.
I hope to see lots of sandcastles there!
Sandcastle lady celebrates 40th wedding anniversary in Rehoboth
Jack and I came to the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, in Rehoboth, for 4 days, to celebrate our Anniversary (December 20, 1975.) The weather has been amazing! When we arrived on Sunday, December 13, it was 70 degrees! (No castle building this trip, however!)
Here is a picture taken from our balcony at sunrise.
converting my oil tank to a fish tank with paint!
A year and a half ago, I painted sand, water, and some sea shells on our brand new oil tank, and put fish decals on. My painting held up well, but the decals lost their color, and had started to peel.
I peeled them off, and painted my own fish on, instead. I also added a few more shells. Am I done yet? I’m thinking about it – I may add some more ‘stuff’ – but not today.
The Sandcastle Lady’s Fish Tank (formerly known as an Oil Tank.)
My neighbor had lots of things to paint!
The sandcastle lady finds things to do –
When I got back to our beach house, a surprise was there.
There was a little sandcastle sculpture on my porch when we got back – from Jameson (12 years old, from Toughkennamon) his signature on the bottom read: to the sandcastle lady, from Jameson.
What a sweet surprise – I don’t have Jameson’s contact info – but hopefully, he’ll see this post, and know how much I love it – and his whole family <3
