Building in August & September on the Massachusetts Street beach, in Lewes, Delaware
Unfortunately, we still had all the kids’ castles wiped out last night.
My granddaughter, Susie, and I walked down to the beach after church tonight, and castles were half there (better than gone, yes?)
It was so nice to have our friends from Ottawa back, Mila, Roxanna, and Vera.
I’m hoping that the family whose kids were the destroyers will be leaving in the morning.
We had great kids building today – that’s a good thing!
After going home yesterday, it was good to be back on the beach today, and have lots of kids building castles.
Dimici and Alexandria brought their wonderful family to Lewes from Ottawa. I met them last year, and although the children’s language is Russian, we got along just fine!
Alex, Logan, and their parents Mike and Erin came back one last time before driving back to Baltimore.
Alex, 13, & his brother, Logan, 9, from Roger’s Forge, Baltimore, MD, created a fantastic fort and castle.
2 sisters from Frederica, DE; a friend from Frederica; and 2 cousins – one from Vermont, and one from New York.
Started out together, working on one castle, but decided that 3 castles would be better!
last night, I heard that kids wrecked ALL the castles – and their parents said “Don’t touch those castles…” but the kids wrecked
Gary’s, Logan and Alex’s castle, Henry and his cousins’ castles, and mine.
So I had to start all over again today.
Here’s my castle for the day today. The sand ‘talks’ to me – and was looking for a 3 sided castle (something foreign to me) but I do what the sand tells me,.
it felt so good to begin building a castle – hopefully, that I will build upon for the next month and a half!
Kids from last year came and talked my ear off; another promised he’ll come tomorrow to build; and a Dad, from Oxford – a first timer in Lewes will build tomorrow, as well.
