A breeze was still on the beach, thankfully – but had shifted a little, coming from the South East. The beach wasn’t too crazy, despite the holiday, and we stayed till almost 5 o’clock. It was great to see Jody’s family of beautiful daughters and her granddaughter, Piper (4 years old) who was happy to make some trees for my castle!
There also was a mysterious anonymous sculpture on the beach, next to my castle, which everyone loved! (I suspect three castle makers of the day before – Erik (10 years old) and his dad, and friend, Will (also 10) all from Silver Spring, Maryland.
The wonderful mystery sculpture that appeared overnight!

Nice Northeast Breeze on Sunday, September 6, 2015
Here is Dassie, age 11, from Dover, DE – with her beautifully decorated castle.
Will, 10 and Erik 10 and his Dad – all from Silver Spring, MD, with their very unique castle design! I’m hoping they’ll build tomorrow!
My castle today (every day is my favorite! Thanks be to God that I am here, building <3 )
Windblown beach on Saturday, Sept 5, 2015
the wind today was really strong, and pushed the tide way way up onto the beach.
The tide took out yesterday’s big castle completely, and ate away at the back of today’s castle, too. I was kneeling in water, getting splashed with waves breaking at my back, while working!
The funniest thing was to have people posing in front (but not too close to the rising water) of my castle!
Big change today in the wind direction
It was really nice to have the North East wind blowing onshore today – so cool, and so nice!
I also want to tell you all how nice it is to meet you on the beach, even just to have you say hello, or say something about the day’s castle.
Two families I’ve met are very nice – Dominic (9 years old) and his mom, Lorraine and grandfather. (Dominic has very good manners – and said his grandpa taught him!) A new family today was Joy, mom to 7 year old twins Maddy and MacKenzie, and their 13 year old brother, Parker. Another family who stopped today had Danica and her brother, Rocky. It really is great to meet you all!
This is the North side of the castle, looking up toward the dunes.
Here’s yesterday’s castle, still standing, and today’s in the background, alongside it.
so nice to have yesterday’s castle standing
All quiet on the beach today; heavy fog this morning
With one of my granddaughters today
It was great to have my granddaughter, Susie 14 years old, building today!
Since yesterday’s late castle was still in pretty good shape, I built another small one.
Here’s a view of today’s castle on the left, and yesterday’s on the right.
Here’s Susie’s castle – still under construction.

A crab race up the castle (Aug 28, 2015)
It’s a lot of fun to build sandcastles, and even more fun if there are friends sitting visiting with me! Audrey and John Bewley, friends from home came back today; and Michele Smith and James surprised me by coming and visiting today, too!
South view of the castle, with the crab race idea guy – Riley
a new Sandcastle Dude! (plus a new teacher!!)
My grandson, Riley – 6yrs+3days, taught a dad and his 3 year old son, Atticus, today. Riley carved the only cottage and stairs coming down, explaining how to do each step. (I’m a pretty proud Nana!)
It is wonderful to come over my dune, and see a great creation on the horizon at the edge of the water! Sandcastle Dude II (aka Frank) built a great sandcastle next to mine. People had lots of compliments and comments! “It looks like a turtle top castle,” “I think it looks like a stadium,” and “the horseshoe crab looks like it’s defending the kingdom!”
My castle today, as much as I could finish, starting late in the day.
