Building in August & September on the Massachusetts Street beach, in Lewes, Delaware
So different, and sad, not to be teaching families and kids, because of Covid19.
Last castle till August of 2020, God willing.
Since the castle from Saturday was pretty much intact, I thought it would be a good time to carve an alligator!
I saw the 6:45 ferry leave, but finished! My beach days are now down to two more, before I have to go home to Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
Brother and sister Colton 7, and Dakota 6, from Swarthmore, PA, teamed with sisters Virginia 5, and Vera 3 1/2, from Delaware, to build a castle together. They worked well, taking turns with tools, and getting along.
I had about an hour of prep work before 4 hours of building and carving, but needed another 20 minutes to finish the West side of the castle! The shadow stretched all across the dune path at 5:45pm – food and wine were calling me!
I have videos of the beach Tuesday and Wednesday, but no photos. It was REALLY windy and chilly, and no building for me.
I start on the day before’s castle, splash it down, and put some more sand on top, and splash it again. This makes each day’s castle a little bigger than the day before.
I was so glad to see Airek coming to the beach! He has a lot of joy building sandcastles, and joy is “catching!”
I had to start from the ground up, and could only manage a small castle, hopefully the next one will be a little bigger.
